Upside Down
Upside Down
When I woke up one day,
I found my world upside down.
I was terrified,
I was hanging by the chandelier.
Everyone around me was,
going about their day.
Unaffected while I,
I cried and clung to the chandelier,
too afraid to let go
for fear of crashing,
and cracking open my skull.
Hands numb with pain
I watched wordlessly
as the world continued to go on.
They were mad, I realized,
the longer I watched them.
They valued money over life.
Colour of skin over humanity.
I hung on tighter
and amidst all the chaos.
I saw an old man
walking on his hands.
He looked too old for that kind of circus.
He looked at me and gestured.
And I let my curiosity get better of me
And I let go and crashed to the floor
and cautiously tried standing on my hand!
To my amazement, the world was normal again.
